On 22 September 2016 a WTO panel issued its compliance report for the dispute 'European Communities and Certain Member States — Measures Affecting Trade in Large Civil Aircraft – Recourse to Article 21.5 of the DSU by the United States'. A compliance panel of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) found that European plane maker Airbus had kept receiving illegal subsidies from some EU member countries. US government and aerospace officials claimed victory in the latest stage of the long-running dispute between Europe and America as to support for their leading aerospace companies Airbus and Boeing. However, the WTO was also to announce in the coming months the results of a counter-claim by the EU against Boeing. |
