Financing for Airbus’ next-generation passenger airliner, the A350, was thrown into doubt on the 30 June 2010 after the World Trade Organisation ruled that the company’s A380 super jumbo jet received illegal export subsidies from European governments. The WTO issued the report of a panel that had examined a complaint by the United States against 'European Communities and Certain Member States — Measures Affecting Trade in Large Civil Aircraft' (DS316). Subsequently, the European Commission learned from the Chairman of the parallel WTO panel investigating subsidies to Boeing (DS 353) that there would be a further delay in the issuing of the confidential interim panel report on that investigation. The Commission expressed its disappointment at this delay. |
