World class competition in training: Emerging economies

Prompted by globalisation and technological change which has brought more demanding production processes, emerging economies are also competing with Europe in reforming vocational education and training (VET). Some selected examples of policies in China, India, Russia, and South Korea show that they are, like the European Union (EU), looking to raise the image and attractiveness of VET and to find better ways to identify and anticipate skills needs.
