  • The French government eased restrictions on Bulgarian and Romanian workers as the two countries became EU members. Bulgarians and Romanians are now able to take jobs in France in the construction, hotel, catering, farming, mechanical, processing, retail and sanitation industries. In all 62 types of jobs have been opened across the eight sectors.

Controversial proposals on the regulation of ‘advanced therapies’ - tissue engineering used to build skin, bone and cartilage from human cells - will return to the European Parliament’s environment committee on 22 January.
