EUIPO is the European Union Intellectual Property Office responsible for managing the EU trade mark and the registered Community design. It also works with the IP offices of the EU Member States and international partners to offer a similar registration experience for trade marks and designs across Europe and the world. Until March 2016 it was called the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market (OHIM). The 2016 work programme outlines the activities to be undertaken by the Office within the framework of the extended Strategic Plan. OHIM's first Strategic Plan (2011-2015) was extended until June 2016 in order to consider the full effects of the Regulation amending the EU trade mark, published on 24 December 2015. The current programme is divided into two parts. The first part describes the activities that the Office will engage in under the Strategic Plan in 2016, and includes activities related to both internal and external audits as well as data protection. The second part contains the forecast for volumes of trade mark and design applications as well as for other types of filings, such as oppositions and appeals. It outlines the key assumptions behind those forecasts, which form the basis for the Office's 2016 Budget. The second part also includes the Office's Service Charter for 2016, which formalises our service commitment towards users in terms of quality, timeliness and accessibility. The Service Charter is published at the beginning of the year and reports on the Office's performance on a quarterly basis. |
