In its report on the reform of the wine sector, adopted on the 21 November 2007, the European Parliament Agriculture Committee voted against the automatic liberalisation of planting rights in 2014 and the transfer of funding to rural development. The committee voted in favour of a grubbing up campaign limited to three years, the retention of sugaring as well as aid for grape must, increased sales promotion, more wide-ranging national budgetary envelopes and stricter rules for designations and labelling.
