Poor families will receive a monthly benefit of 500 złoty [around €115] from the first child onwards, while better-off families can claim the benefit for the second and subsequent children. The Polish media review the success of the programme. The Polish government appointed in November 2015 introduced a generous child-raising benefit targeted at all families with more than one child and supporting poor families with one child. The new benefit was expected to increase the birth-rate and improve the financial situation of large families. The law was quickly processed, and payment of benefits began in April 2016. |
