West condemns storming of British Embassy in Iran

Iranian protestors stormed two British diplomatic compounds in Tehran on the 29 November 2011 in protest against new sanctions on Iran's financial sector over Tehran's controversial nuclear programme imposed by the United Kingdom.

The European Union moved towards imposing an oil embargo on Iran on the 1 December 2011 at a meeting of EU Foreign Ministers. intensifying the pressure on Tehran to abandon its suspected nuclear weapons programme.

The discussion about an oil embargo on Iran took place amid simmering anger in European capitals over the attack on the British embassy in Tehran. In a toughly worded statement, the ministers said they were 'outraged' and promised further 'appropriate measures' in response.
