Over the course of 2012, GMF commissioned a set of policy papers from authors from around the world in the interest of looking at the European crisis from afar. In other words: a perspective from 'the outside in' in order to complement the prevailing view from 'the inside out.' Strategists and analysts from six countries (the United States, Turkey, India, China, Japan, and Brazil) were asked to contribute. The authors were asked four questions: 1) How is the crisis interpreted in your country? 2) How, in your view, does the crisis affect Europe’s foreign policy? 3) How does the crisis change your country’s relations with Europe? 4) How does the crisis change your country’s strategic outlook? The goal of this set of questions was to gain a better understanding of how enduring the crisis as an influencing factor of foreign policy is seen to be by other actors. |
