Launched in 1992 to promote the closest possible partnership between the Governments and the peoples of the European Union and the United States, the Transatlantic Policy Network (TPN) has a proud record of achievement as well as vital ambitions for the future.

TPN’s immediate priority is to strongly encourage the United States and the European Union to agree a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). TPN has argued the case for progress towards transatlantic free trade and a close political partnership for nearly 20 years, with a particular focus on creating a Transatlantic Market by 2020.

From a small base of original supporting the European Parliament and the US Congress, TPN has grown into a broadly-based multi-party group of EU and US politicians, corporate leaders, influential think-tanks and academics. Through constant informal dialogue and the maintenance of close personal relationships, TPN participants keep the two administrations focused on the indispensability of pursuing the goal of a strengthened Transatlantic Partnership.

Concentrating on the present but thinking about the future, TPN’s meetings and publications have outlined possible developments of the Transatlantic Partnership, encouraging leadership in the global economy.

Looking at long-term trends to define the priorities for the Partnership ahead, these are helping to frame the debate on how governments should anticipate challenges, measure risks and adopt the necessary policies.
