The official website of the European Convention / Convention on the Future of Europe meeting during 2002 and 2003. The purpose of the Convention was to propose a new framework and structures for the European Union which wer geared to changes in the world situation, the needs of the citizens of Europe and the future development of the European Union. The Convention completed its work in July 2003. It was followed by an Intergovernmental Conference, October 2003-June 2004 and to the signing of the Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe in October 2004.
