The Irish Alliance for Europe is a non-party, civil society organisation tha is campaigning for a Yes vote in the referendum on the Lisbon Reform Treaty. The Alliance is chaired by Ruairí Quinn. Brendan Kiely served as Director. It is comprised of individuals and organisations from a variety of backgrounds, ranging from business people, lawyers, a number of trade unionists, academics, farmers and students. The Alliance is funded through private donations. It is registered under the relevant legislation as a third party political organisation and is regulated by the rules set down by the Standards in Public Office Commission. The Alliance believes that Ireland's place is at the heart of a strong united Europe, where we have the best opportunity to advance our national interest and contribute positively to the rest of the world. This can best be achieved through the EU envisioned by the Lisbon Reform Treaty. |
