Further information:
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is a body created by the European Union in 2008 to strengthen the European Union’s innovation capacity. It brings together leading universities, research laboratories and companies to form dynamic pan-European partnerships. Together, these partnerships - called Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) - develop innovative products and services, start new companies, and train a new generation of entrepreneurs. They bring ideas to market, turn students into entrepreneurs and, most importantly, they innovate.
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology was established in 2008 by Regulation (EC) No 294/2008 and amended by Regulation (EC) No 1292/2013. The EIT is based in Budapest (Hungary). Its purpose is to address major societal challenges by improving the innovation capacity and performance of the EU through the integration of the knowledge triangle of education, research and innovation.
