EENEE is a network of leading European centres and experts on economics of education. As an EU Think Tank, EENEE is sponsored by the European Commission, Directorate General Education and Culture (DG EAC) and coordinated by the Ifo Institute for Economic Research at the University of Munich.

EENEE’s mandate is to give policy advice to the European Commission, to disseminate knowledge on the economics of education in Europe, and to further research in the economics of education in Europe.

The economics of education is a wide-ranging and growing sub-field of economics. It encompasses topics such as research on returns to education in the labour market, efficiency of the education “industry”, effects of education on the growth of economies, and educational finance. It also encompasses all levels of education, ranging from pre-school learning over school and university education and training to lifelong learning.
