Nationwide protests took place in Ireland on the 1 November 2014 against the introduction of water charges in the Republic of Ireland.

On 17 November 2014, the constituency office of the Irish minister overseeing the new water charges received a bomb threat, escalating the level of the ongoing protests.

BBC News reported two days later that the Irish government had revised its plans for the introduction of domestic water charges. It had originally introduced the tax in October 2014 as part of its plan to pay back the international financial bailout Ireland had to seek in 2010.
