A draft new Directive aimed at liberalising services across the European Union will require European companies operating across borders on a temporary basis to comply with their own country's laws. Thus, companies operating on a temporary basis in the UK could avoid having to comply with British health and safety laws. The Centre for Corporate Accountability warned that some businesses might deliberately use the law to avoid the UK's strict safety laws.
