The creation of a permanent International Criminal Court (ICC) to try crimes against humanity will become a reality on 11 April 2002 Thursday when a group of 10 countries - including Bosnia, Cambodia, Ireland, Mongolia and Romania - sign the treaty at UN headquarters in New York, bringing the number of states ratifying the treaty to 60. This means that the tribunal can come into force on 1 July.
