Summary:Russia's war in Ukraine in February 2022 has changed the world. The invasion has caused massive civilian casualties and destruction of infrastructure, forcing nearly six million Ukrainians to seek safety and support across Europe. By February 2024, almost 7,500 Ukrainians had come to Wales with the support of the UK and Welsh governments. Wales's trade with Ukraine continues at a reduced scale after falling since the start of the invasion. This feature explores what the latest statistics tell us about Ukrainian refugees in Wales and the war's impact on trade. It builds on previous articles published by the Senedd Research. |
