Summary:
EU Ministers responsible for financial and economic matters (ECOFIN) held a videoconference on 6 October 2020. The agenda included the following items:
- Adoption of general approach on proposed Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF);
- Exchange of views on a package of proposals concerning digital finance;
- Presentation by the European Commission on its Communication setting out a new Action Plan concerning the Capital Markets Union (CMU), followed by an exchange of views;
- Exchange of views on lessons learned from the 2020 cycle of the European Semester;
- Briefing on progress achieved concerning a number of legislative proposals related to financial services;
- Briefing on the next steps following the Eurogroup's support for the candidacy of Frank Elderson to become a member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank (ECB);
- Update on the preparations for a forthcoming G20 finance ministers' and central banks governors' meeting, as well as for the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) annual meeting.
