US widens gap with Europe on R&D

The transatlantic technology gap has widened in the past year as US companies continued to outstrip their European rivals on research and development spending, according to the international R&D Scoreboard for 2006 published by the UK Department of Trade and Industry published 30 October 2006. Corporate R&D spending in the US rose by 8.2 per cent over the past year, compared with 5.8 per cent in Europe.
