Genetically-modified rice from the US has entered the European Union, officials have confirmed. Rice importers told a meeting of the Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health in Brussels on 11 September 2006 that they had tested 162 samples and found 33 contained the LL601 strain of GMO.
