On 14.7.00, it is expected that the United States will launch a new front in its effort to force an end to the long-running dispute with the EU over trade in bananas and beef treated with hormones. A new rotating list of products will be targeted in six months and every six months thereafter. The rotating list, known as carousel retaliation, is intended to hit both the politically influential member states such as France, the UK and Germany and those smaller states that were largely excluded from the initial lists. |
