Upsurge in refugees may cause Germany to ‘push its limits’

The urgent humanitarian situation in northern Iraq and the surrounding regions sparked a fierce discussion in Germany, according to EurActiv on 26 August 2014 around its refugee policy. Such debate appeared amid a growing number of asylum seekers and appeals for immediate EU action.

Adding to the debate in Germany, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees António Guterres considered during an interview that many European countries could learn from the German refugee policy.
