UN cuts back Cyprus peacekeepers

The United Nations Security Council has voted to reduce by about a third the number of peacekeepers on the divided island of Cyprus. The UN resolution on the 22 October 2004 also extended the mandate of the force, known as UNFICYP, until June 2005.
