Ukraine’s ex-president in murder probe

Ukrainian prosecutors opened in March 2011 a criminal investigation into former President Leonid Kuchma on suspicion of involvement in the brutal 2000 murder of investigative journalist Georgy Gongadze.

On the 24 March 2011 Ukrainian prosecutors formally charged Leonid Kuchma in connection with the murder.
