The UK Presidency of the European Union has received a hostile reaction to its plans to cut regional aid to eastern Europe as part of a proposed deal for a new EU budget for the period 2007-2013. UK Prime Minister Tony Blair was due to travel to eastern Europe on 1 December 2005 to argue his case, but Poland has already warned it will block a budget agreement at the European Council in Brussels in December 2005.
