UK targets terrorist finances

Lists of people thought to have been involved in the US terror attack are being circulated around international banks and financial institutions in a bid by the UK government to target terrorist cash. Gordon Brown, the UK's finance minister, hopes to use the informal Ecofin meeting of European finance ministers on 22 September 2001 to call on the European Parliament to speed up implementation of the EU's directive on combating money laundering.
