United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May welcomed the Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydło to London for the first formal bilateral summit on the 28 November 2016. The summit was designed to strengthen the relationship between the UK and Poland as Britain prepared to leave the EU. The Summit brought together both Prime Ministers along with a number of their senior Cabinet ministers, including the Chancellor and the Foreign and Defence Secretaries. The Prime Ministerial discussions focused on Brexit and defence co-operation. The wider Ministerial discussions led to an agreement to deepen cooperation on a range of areas, from foreign policy to defence and security, trade and investment to science and innovation, as well as a talk about international issues such as Russia’s actions in Ukraine and Syria. |
