In one, an Irish citizen Therese Bollard argues that there is a link between the high incidence of fatal illnesses along the Irish coast and the processing of nuclear fuel at the plant. Ann Bradley, author of the second petition, claims that environmental impact assessments, obligatory under EU law, have not been carried out at Thorp. The Parliament committee will quiz the Commission on the issue before deciding how to proceed.
