A court in Turkey ordered the cancellation of a conference in Istanbul on the massacre of Armenians in 1915, on 22 September 2005, the day before it was due to begin. This is the second time the conference has been called off, and the ruling just ten days before accession talks with the European Union are due to begin is very embarrassing for the Turkish Government. |
