Turkish accession ‘key to EU-Islam relations’

In a speech in Copenhagen on 23 March 2004 the UK Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw, said that the treatment of Turkey's hopes of joining the European Union will be an 'acid test' of Europe's ability to counter the myth it is doomed to conflict with Islam.
