The problems between the Iraqi central government and Turkey were due to several factors: Ankara’s stance against Maliki’s bid for the post of prime minister after Iraq’s elections, Turkey’s protection and hosting of Hashimi, Turkey’s close relations with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), and the conflicting approaches of Turkey and Iraq regarding the situation in Syria. |
