TURKEY'S ambassador in Brussels accused the EU of ignoring Ankara's regional security concerns by demanding that it approve a deal to grant the EU's rapid reaction force access to NATO's military assets.

Union foreign ministers warned Turkey this week that it should stop blocking development of the force if it wishes to join the EU. But Ambassador Nihat Akyol said it was unreasonable to expect Turkey to make sacrifices related to its defence interests.
