Turkey ‘faces toughest test’ for EU entry

The European Commission set out, on 29 June 2005, its proposals for negotiations with Turkey over its entry to the European Union. The Commission warned that Turkey might have to settle for less than full membership. Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn said Turkey would face the 'most rigorous' test of any candidate country to date.
