This book provides an accessible guide through TUPE regulations; that is, regulations governing the Transfer of Undertakings and the Protection of Employment. It deals, in particular, with new legislation concerned with business transfers, and the interests and rights of employees caught up in the proceedings.

The writer works chronologically through the various stages of a transfer under the regulations. Chapter one discusses the background of TUPE, its regulations and their implementation. Chapter two examines the actual component parts of a transfer, its definitions, identifications, timing, directions, and clarification on ADI, and chapter three explores the more diverse types of transfer, including those in the public sector, as well as questions of insolvency and pre-transfer advice. Chapter four is concerned with issues of information and consultation, and chapter five considers employment relationship. Chapter six looks at dismissals and chapter seven closes the book with an analysis of pensions.

The book includes appendices. These comprise of council directives, a copy of an amended set of TUPE Regulations from 1981, and numerous draft documents.
