Troops reduction

• The EU’s special envoy to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schwarz-Schilling, has announced plans to reduce the number of EU troops in Bosnia from 6,000 to 2,500 in 2007. EU member states will take a final decision at the end of February.

Controversial proposals on the regulation of ‘advanced therapies’ - tissue engineering used to build skin, bone and cartilage from human cells - will return to the European Parliament’s environment committee on 22 January.
