With the move away from searching via command languages to simple web search interfaces on most of the official EU databases, the European Information Association has revamped its training courses to concentrate on explaining the content of the various electronic resources and assisting potential users to identify where they can source the information they require most effectively. The new course, 'European Union legal information on the Internet' scheduled to run in March in London is already heavily oversubscribed. It is due to run again in Portsmouth on 7 September, but in view of the numbers on the waiting list it is hoped to be able to repeat the course both in London and in the north in late spring/early summer. Contact Catherine Webb (details below) if you would like to register an interest in attending. The broader based course, 'Electronic sources of EU information', is planned for 17 June in Bradford, and 23 November in Portsmouth. All are priced at £95 for EIA members and £125 for non-members. For more information or bookings contact: Catherine Webb Since 1997 ASLIB has also regularly put on a course called 'European Union information sources - on the Internet'. The course will next be run on 8 June and 27 November 1998. For further details contact Nicole Adamides at ASLIB on tel: +44-(0)171-903-0000.
