Traders win fraud chain court ruling

Traders who are unwittingly caught up in a carousel fraud chain on Thursday won a significant victory in the European Court of Justice, 27 September 2007. The ECJ said that if they had acted in good faith and could show that they had taken 'every reasonable measure' to ensure that they did not deliberately participate in tax evasion, the tax authorities should not be able to withdraw any value added tax exemption rights they held.
