The test version of TMview, the database providing access to more than 5 million trade marks, was launched in November 2009. The new service is designed to simultaneously search, free of charge, the databases of existing trade marks held by OHIM, WIPO, and the UK, Czech, Italian, Benelux, Portuguese and Danish Intellectual Property Offices. The trade mark information from eight other European IP Offices should be available shortly and more will be added at a later stage. It is hoped that a similar data exchange project for patents may be possible in the future. |
