Third Joint Declaration on NATO-European Union cooperation

Summary:

Joint Declaration focusing on cooperation between NATO and the European Union (EU), signed by the leaders of both organisations on 10 January 2023.

Further information:

The Joint Declaration seeks to further strengthen and expand the strategic partnership between NATO and the EU, building on progress in cooperation between the two organisations since previous declarations were signed in 2016 and 2018.

The Declaration was signed by NATO's Secretary General, as well the EU's President of the European Commission and President of the European Council. In this occasion, leaders addressed the increasing geostrategic competition, resilience issues, and the protection and critical infrastructures. Other priority areas of work within the Declaration include emerging and disruptive technologies, space, the security implications of climate change, foreign interference and information manipulation.
