Summary: Communication presented on 10 April 2019 by the European Commission on the implementation of the Facility for Refugees in Turkey. Further information: In 2015, the European Union and its Member States decided to step up a political and financial engagement to support Turkey in its efforts to host refugees. The Facility for Refugees is a mechanism that coordinates the mobilisation of resources made available under both the EU budget, and additional contributions from Member States integrated into the EU budget as external assigned revenue. The operational envelope of the first tranche of the Facility was fully contracted and over €2 billion disbursed by March 2019. Important progress was made in the mobilisation of the second tranche, with €1.2 billion committed, €450 million contracted and €150 million disbursed by March 2019. The Facility continued to provide assistance to refugees and host communities in Turkey. This report was reviewed at the twelfth Steering Committee meeting of the EU Facility for Refugees in Turkey. |
