The way through the labyrinth. A guide to European Union funding for the non-profit sector. 1998 ed.: There is equally no doubt that possibilities for EU funding have greatly increased over the past decade. The resulting multiplication of budgets, programmes and procedures across Commission departments, managing agencies, national and regional public authorities has made Euro-fundraising very much the domain of the 'insider'. This guide is designed to encourage and facilitate NGOs in seeking EU funding. It has been produced jointly by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) and Euro Citizen Action Service (ECAS). CAF is a non-profit organisation with the function of ensuring that the flow of resources to non-profit organisations is maximised. CAF developed in the UK but now has offices in a number of other countries. CAF opened an office in Brussels in 1996 to take account of the EU as the world's largest donor, and the increasing importance of corporate social investment in Europe. Since then, its activities have included the production of both publications and seminars on European Union funding. ECAS is an independent non-profit-making advice service for NGOs on European funding and lobbying. The volume starts off with an 'Action Kit', which provides basic useful hints and ideas on applying for funds touching upon topics such as different types of funding, financial eligibility, the need for co-funding, the need for management expertise and reporting procedures. Checklists are provided covering the drafting of an application and the budget. Part One ends with an index to funding opportunities by fields of interest. Part Two of the volume contains a detailed description of the EU's Structural Funds and Community Initiatives. Part Three contains the main entries for all the EU funding programmes, with full contact details. Part Four provides contact information, information about the EU and its Institutions, the budget and the euro. Kinghan, Helen (ed.) |
