Abstract:

This work book is written specifically as a practical guide to enable readers to test their knowledge of the European Union.

The book is organised in three parts. Part one provides information on recruitment to the EU institutions. It offers a set of ‘need to knows’ and ‘nice to knows’, together with topic hints for essays and a collection of recommended web sites. Part two contains the tests, with questions designed to assist preparation for multiple choice tests and verbal and numerical reasoning tests under time-pressure and challenging wording. Elements covered include European Institutions, EU Policies, Constitutional Treaty, Verbal Reasoning and Numerical Reasoning. The third part contains the answers with added information on related web sites and areas for further reading.

The book will be especially helpful to candidates preparing for EU recruitment examinations, and will interest all those students or practitioners wishing to improve their knowledge of the structure and policies of the EU.
