Abstract:

The International Society of Family Law aims to facilitate study and discussion by sponsoring and promoting international co-operation in research on family law topics world-wide. The International Survey of Family Law is the Society's annual review of developments in family law across the world.

This edition begins with those developments under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction 1980. Discussion then moves to the proposed reform of the so-called 'Brussels II Regulation' and concludes with a review of human rights and family law, focusing on the activities of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child and the European Court of Human Rights. There then follows a comprehensive review of recent developments in family law, consisting of contributions from twenty seven countries around the world.

The volume will interest scholars, students, policy makers and researchers engaged in the field of Family Law and Human Rights.

Andrew Bainham is a Fellow of Christ's College, Cambridge and Reader in Family Law and Policy at the University of Cambridge.
