The increase in risk exposure of the European farmers: EU and North American tools – Looking at the CAP post 2013

This Note provides an extended analysis on private strategies that could be adopted by farmers to manage their risk and on the role that public policies might play in supporting such strategies, providing a comparison between EU and North American tools. The ultimate objective is the definition of a framework of policy instruments that could be adopted at EU-wide level to effectively confront the problem of risk and crisis management in agriculture.
