The impact of investment funds on restructuring practices and employment levels

This report present the results of a project that brought together researchers from several European countries to assess the effects of investment funds on labour outcomes. The report focuses on the activities of three different types of investment fund: private equity, hedge funds and sovereign wealth funds, which are sometimes referred to as alternative investment funds (AIFs). Section 5 analyses the activities of all three fund types in seven countries, looking at the framework of national legal regulations and industrial relations in each case. The countries covered are: United Kingdom, Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden, Italy, Poland, Hungary. A brief overview is also given of the United States and Japan.
