The Europeanisation of UK competition law:

The Competition Act 1998 makes fundamental changes to United Kingdom competition law, introducing two new prohibitions based on European Community rules. The papers in this book were given at a conference organised by the Centre for the Law of the European Community at University College London in September 1998. Contributors are a mixture of academics and practitioners, who explore the effects of the Competition Act as well as its doctrinal origins and relationship to EC Competition Law. The chapters cover central issues such as the Office of Fair Trading's role in the new regime, the civil consequences of the chapters I and II prohibitions, an economic evaluation of recent changes in UK competition policy, some problems likely to arise with the Act, regulation under the Act and the regulation of utilities, and the prospects for the harmonious operation of UK and EC Competition Law. The chapters have been fully cross-referenced to produce tables of cases, legislation and treaties.

This is a book which will be of interest to all specialist practitioners, officials and academics working in the area of competition law.
