...a spokesman for External Relations Commissioner Chris Patten confirmed this week. He said the Commission was working on proposals to end the range of sanctions imposed on Serbia following a request from the French presidency. According to the official results of last weekend's elections, opposition candidate Vojislav Kostunica did not win the 50% of votes needed to avoid a second ballot. But EU governments dismissed the results as fraudulent and called on Milosevic to step down.
