Abstract: The Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) entered into force on 1 January 2015, as an organisation for regional economic integration between Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia. Later that same year Armenia and Kyrgyzstan also joined. Meanwhile, relations between Russia and the EU have grown increasingly tense due to the Russian annexation of the Crimean Peninsula, and this SIEPS publication analyses what the EEU means for the development in the EU’s eastern neighbourhood. It also discusses strategic possibilities for the Eastern Partnership. |
