The ENP now includes three countries in Eastern Europe (Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus) and three in the South Caucasus (Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan). This new neighbourhood, however, overlaps with Russia's 'near abroad', where Moscow has sought to retain its influence and strategic predominance. This briefing paper examines Russian policies towards these Eastern ENP countries.
